Philecia Avery, Pharm.D.
Vice President, Pharmacy
Kroger Co

Dr. Philecia C. Avery leads Kroger’s retail, mail order and central fill pharmacy teams, including working closely with Kroger’s specialty pharmacy, Axium, and their retail clinics, The Little Clinic, to provide a holistic approach to healthcare in the Kroger-banner stores.

Dr. Avery has worked for the Kroger Co for a combined 17 years where she has held a number of positions including Director, Pharmacy Operations, Manager, Kroger Prescription Plans - Kroger’s PBM, Clinical Program Manager, Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Coordinator in the Nashville, Tennessee area before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio to work in Kroger’s General Office.

She is a member of several professional organizations including the Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute; The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, where she has served on the Schools of Pharmacy Resource Committee; National Council for Prescription Drug Programs; past member and President of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Cincinnati Chapter. Additionally, Dr. Avery is a member of the Phi Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Queen City Chapter of the Links, Inc., and Carousels, Inc.

Dr. Avery graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana’s College of Pharmacy, where she obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 1997. It was there she was inducted into Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Fraternity. Dr. Avery is a graduate of the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati’s African American Leadership Development Program, Cornell University Food Executive Program, YWCA Rising Star and Leadership Class. Additional accolades include Progressive Grocer 2012 Top Women in Grocery Award, Founding Member, KY/OH AMCP Affiliate, and member of The Children’s Home of Cincinnati Young Professional Board.

Dr. Avery has two children. Her daughter, Taylor Necole, is a senior at Miami University Oxford, OH and son, Willie ”Trey” Avery, III, is a sophomore at Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN.
