In a world where media is usually siloed, Julia has the unique responsibility of setting strategic and operational direction for all of Cox Media Group Ohio’s properties.
She is responsible for WHIO-TV, the top-rated CBS affiliate; three radio stations; three daily newspapers, including the Dayton Daily News, and a variety of digital products tied to these brands.
Since bringing the brands together under one organization, revenue, audience and profitability have significantly increased.
Julia is a veteran journalist, who was named 2004 Editor of the Year by Editor and Publisher Magazine and received the Alumni Merit Award from her alma mater, Northwestern University. She was editor of the Atlanta Journal Constitution during a time when it won two Pulitzer Prizes and published a variety of exposés that led to dozens of indictments. She was also a top editor at USA Today, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Arizona Republic.
She has evolved several traditional businesses into digital ones, creating one of the first newspaper websites in 1993 and growing ajc.com into one of the country’s most popular newspaper websites.
