Barbara was promoted on January, 2011 to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Miami Valley Hospital a member of Premier Health Partners is recognized as the leading health care resource in the Dayton region. Miami Hospital has the only Level I Trauma Center; the area's only air ambulance service; the Regional Adult Burn Center for west central Ohio, the area's only high-risk (Level III) maternity center and neonatal intensive care unit, serving 17 counties; the Regional Transplant and Chronic kidney Dialysis Center and the area's largest center for heart emergency care. Miami Valley Hospital has 760 staffed beds; 5,800 employees and 1,100 medical staff.
Prior to her promotion to EVP/COO Barbara Johnson was the Vice President of Hospital Operations at Miami Valley Hospital responsible for managing hospital operations which included: Cardiology Services; Transplant Services; Emergency Preparedness; Facilities Management; Safety and Regulatory Affairs; Environmental Services; Campus Security; Volunteer Services which includes Senior Care Services; Educational Resource Center and Medical Library Services; Employee Wellness; and serves as Operations Representative to the Department of Cardiology. Barbara Johnson has been with Miami Valley Hospital since March, 2009.
She also served as Vice President of Operations and Director of Human Resources for Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), National Association of Healthcare Senior Executives (NAHSE), and the American Society for Health Care Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).
Barbara serves on the Dayton Opera Board of Directors, and is a member of the Wright State University Humanics Council. Barbara interests in the Greater Dayton area includes support of child and adult "special needs" education, the Mueller Society, Good Samaritan Health Foundation, The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association and Habitat for Humanity. She also sponsors and or participates on several hospital committees to include the Diversity Council, Patient Satisfaction Task Force; Energy Management and Green Initiative Task Force, and the Advisory Council for Miami Valley Cardiology). Barbara is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University.
